Our Valentine’s Day Social 2011 was approached with a bit of trepidation and concern by a number of parents and caregivers. In the past, the social was held during the evening; however, this year, the PTA Board and school administration felt it most appropriate to be held immediately following the school day so that even more children in grades 3-5 could attend.
Can I just say that this ultimately turned out to be a GREAT idea and an AWESOME event! Of the children between grades 3-5 who were eligible to attend, we had nearly 100% attendance at our social! And, we took the opportunity to tack on voluntary community service with the “give something to get something” activity in support of our Community Outreach Committee.
The children gobbled up the make 5 cards for our Silver Angels (give something) and receive a helium balloon in return (get something).
Tried and true to reputation, our DJ, David Clough, rocked the school!
Many thanks to the parents and caregivers of the 3rd to 5th graders who provided the eats for the social. And, many thanks to the committee chairs and committee members who put the event together!
